The RIYC Educational Foundation is a proud sponsor of your children and grandchildren relative to participation in the Edgewood Sailing School. The Foundation is prepared to reimburse you for 50% of the classes' cost of the many diversified programs they offer. This is a great opportunity for your child or grandchild to attend sailing classes either as a beginner sailor or an advanced sailing racer. Many of us can speak from experience and first hand knowledge of the professional instructional environment offered to our children in this program. In order for you to be reimbursed by the RIYCEF you need to get pre-approval for your application. Please submit a copy of your application along with a brief summary of who and when your child will take the course to the club office marked to my attention. We will get back to you promptly. Information can be found on their website at youthsailing@edgewoodsailing.org .
Edgewood Sailing School Families and Friends, Are thoughts of summer starting to creep into your daily routine? I hope so, for the 2010 Edgewood Sailing School program schedule is posted at Edgewoodsailing.org. Use the links above to get to the Edgewood Sailing web page. We very much want our young sailors to deepen their connection with Narragansett Bay and build on their skills and confidence this 2010 season. Class sizes are limited so sign up soon to secure a place for your young sailor. This season, you can register your child using our new online registration tool. Choosing this option will insure that we have accurate enrollment information on your child and family. Most of this season's programming will be complete by July 31. If this schedule does not work for you, please call us. We are leaving time in early August to meet the needs for groups outside the structure of normal classes. Last year we had several families connect together for a group lesson. For our racing sailors, and almost any child that wants to try racing, we are planning a racing camp for the first two weeks of August. The camp will be capped by attending Narragansett Bay Yachting Association Junior Race Week. Kids from all over the Bay come together for 3 days of racing and fun in August. For opti sailors, there is a green fleet - a level for novice sailors with basic skills so almost everyone can participate. It is great fun.
With warm - summer warm wishes,
Curt Spalding President Edgewood Sailing School
Note, once you or your children to sail, the RIYC Education Foundation owns two Rhodes 19 sailboats which are available for use by club members who have received training from an accredited member of the club. See documents below for more information.
