The Rhode Island Yacht Club Educational Foundation
The Rhode Island Yacht Club Educational Foundation offers a number of programs, such as educational seminars free and open to the community. Additionally, we sponsor RIYC members’ children and grandchildren to encourage sailing and other boating related programs through education, training and other activities.
The foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1998 to:
- Encourage and further boating and yachting through education, training and other activities designed to improve the community’s understanding, participation, knowledge and support;
- Promote safe boating;
- Foster and assist in the development of boating events which will accomplish the above referenced purposes;
- Cooperate with and assist public and private agencies and boating and marine groups in the furtherance of these ends; to establish sufficient educational funding to facilitate youth and adult education, scholarships and related marine experiences;
- To solicit and receive donations, contributions, grants or other funds for the accomplishment of the above purposes.
We are a completely separate entity of the Rhode Island Yacht Club. The only income we receive throughout the year are donations made by members who are gracious enough to make a contribution.
The RIYC Educational Foundation is proud to sponsor children and grandchildren of RIYC members wishing to participate in a sailing or other boating related educational programs. The Foundation is prepared to reimburse a portion of the class cost. This is a great opportunity for your child or grandchild to attend sailing classes, or other boating related educational programs. Many of us can speak from experience of the professional instructional environment offered to our children in this program.
In order for you to be reimbursed by the RIYCEF, you will need pre-approval.
